Why should I become a member of NW MedStar?
In an emergency, EMS or health care providers may determine it is necessary to dispatch NW MedStar. Health insurance coverage varies and out-of-pocket costs can be costly for patients that are transported. The last thing you want to think about is how much this care will cost. The membership program was created to help offset the cost to the patient and shields you from any cost for emergency air transport not covered by health insurance. NW MedStar works with your insurance company directly for the air transport payment.
With the NW MedStar membership program, you get peace of mind knowing that your flight will not create extra financial hardship should you or your family ever become ill or seriously injured and NW MedStar is dispatched. Membership also helps support NW MedStar’s vital non-profit services throughout the region.
What about family members?
Membership benefits are for the primary member, his or her spouse or domestic partner and dependants claimed on income tax. Once you and your family are members it is important that you contact NW MedStar to notify them of any changes in your family.
Who do I call in an emergency?
Always call 9-1-1 when requesting assistance for patients in life-threatening medical situations. Physicians, emergency response agencies (ambulance, police, fire) or hospitals will dispatch Northwest MedStar if needed.
